This morning, the former Penn State assistant football coach accused of molesting an ever-growing number of young boys waived his right to a preliminary hearing and says he will battle the allegations in a trial.
OK, that is fine. His defense attorney calls this a “tactical move.” Happens all the time in court cases, right?
But Sandusky is now calling this a “fight to the death.”
This is not a football game. You don’t need to give inspirational speeches and ramp up your side for a no-holds-barred attack. People’s lives, livelihoods, and futures are at stake. Minors, as well as adults who were minors at the time, will have to take the stand and describe in gruesome detail the alleged abuse. This is not a game, and the guy seems to continue to treat it as one.
This includes using some questionable terms in interviews he should never have agreed to in the first place. When discussing his time spent with boys aged 10 and older, Sandusky has used phrases such as “precious times,” saying he is “attracted to young boys, in the way he is attracted to all young people.” He has also explained away alleged sexual contact as innocent physical contact that “just happened that way.”
I am not voicing my opinion on whether Sandusky is guilty. What I am saying is that if I were in an advisory position, I would tell him to do one thing first and foremost.
Shut up.
In a bizarre twist to an already ugly divorce drama, Hulk Hogan‘s ex-wife has added gay adultery to her already long list of allegations against the professional wrestler.
In her autobiography, Linda Bollea already accused Hulk of beating her and having affairs. Now, she says she thinks at least one of those affairs was with another man, fellow wrestler (and close friend) Brutus Beefcake.
While achieving her goal of slathering her ex-husband’s name across tabloid headlines, Linda also runs the risk of exposing herself as bitter, a shrew, or possibly even an inflammatory liar, as both wrestlers are filing defamation suits against her.

“This says more about the ex-wife than it does about him,” he said.
Before divorcing in 2009, the couple starred, along with their grown children, in the reality series Hogan Knows Best from 2005 until 2007. Already every bit the train wreck you would expect, the show fell apart after the couple’s son, Nick, was convicted in a drunk driving accident that permanently disabled his friend, who was in Nick’s vehicle. Shortly after, reports surfaced of an affair between Hogan and one of his daughter’s young friends, Linda filed for divorce, and the show was cancelled.
Hogan has since remarried, and his ex-wife also is in a relationship with a new (much younger) man, who was 18 when they began dating.
This crew is making me feel like I really need to ramp up the drama in my personal life by ten or so points just to keep up.
On the flip side, one celebrity appears to be on a more positive path. Brooke Mueller, Charlie Sheen‘s ex-wife, has entered rehab once more in an attempt to defeat the demons that seem to plague her at every turn.
An aspiring actress, Mueller’s true claim to fame was her 2008 marriage to Sheen, resulting in the birth of the couple’s twin boys in 2009. Later that year, Sheen was arrested after holding a knife to Mueller’s throat, threatening to kill her. Mueller filed for divorce shortly after.
As Charlie’s “winning” tailspin became media fodder, Mueller battled alcohol and cocaine addiction, chronicled on yet another train wreck of reality television, The World According to Paris (shudder).
Earlier this month, Mueller was arrested yet again on drug-related charges (felony cocaine possession with intent to distribute). She now has entered a program that allows her to stay home with her children, but will force her to be tested daily for drugs and alcohol (at her request).
From what I have seen, Brooke seems to be a little more “well adjusted” and “down to earth” than the cartoons she has surrounded herself with (Sheen, Paris Hilton, the Kardashians, etc etc…). I hope she is serious about getting healthy, if for no other reason so that her children will have at least one sane parent.
